The workshop will be held on the grounds of the Institut d'Études Scientifiques de Cargèse (IESC), 2km outside the town of Cargèse on the west of Corsica. It provides conference rooms, accomodation, and restaurant all at one location.
The nearest and recommended airport is Ajaccio, to where there is a good flight connection from Paris (>5x per day). Alternatively one can fly from other cities in France and Europe (e.g. Marseille, London, Brussels, Amsterdam, Basel, Geneva and Oslo).
A one-time shuttle bus will be provided from Ajaccio airport to the venue on Sunday 14th and return on the morning of Friday 19th May.
Other airports on the island are Figari, Calvi and Bastia. There also are ferries to Corsica from mainland France (Marseille/Nice/Toulon) or Italy (Livorno). Note: public transport on Corsica is very limited.
At the IESC accomodation will be provided, based on 2 people sharing twin-bedded rooms with a balcony, in modern building overlooking the sea. There is a limited number of single bedrooms available too. All facilities are accessible for persons of reduced mobility.
Alternatively accomodation in hotels may be found in the village of Cargese at own cost.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided every day of the workshop.
Corsica is known for its spectacular natural beauty: from the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean sea (which can be surprisingly rough, hitting the cliffs of Cap Corse), through the forests up into the mountain ranges in the centre of the island. Nearly 40% of the island has natural park status.
A limited number of participants can be given travel support. Priority will be given to support applicants from developing countries. To apply for travel support please complete the form below after submitting an abstract.
